Can Everyone Enjoy Dental Implants?

Are you missing some teeth? Or are you just unhappy with the current dental technology that you’re taking advantage of such as your dentures? If so then you might have considered the possibility of looking at dental implants. These synthetic teeth actually look and feel like real teeth making them a very tempting alternative to the other teeth replacement methods currently in use!

One thing that you will need to know if this is an area that you are currently investigating is whether you can actually have this surgical procedure done. You’ll need to know if there are any reasons that would stop you, right? Well I’ve discussed a couple of reasons below that could prevent you from having implants so have a look through and you’ll start to learn whether implants could help you with your missing teeth.

The cost

Not everyone has the thousands of dollars to hand that dental implants might cost in your area. While these implants should be considered as an investment because they will last for a very long time, the upfront payment could prevent you from having the work done. Some dental practices will offer deals at certain times and other incentives such as 0% finance deals which could help you out. But when it comes down to it, if you don’t have enough money to buy food to eat having nice teeth isn’t going to help you all that much.

Don’t instantly let that put you off this treatment however as you might not need to have every tooth replaced. Obviously the more implants you need, the higher the cost will be so if you can’t afford them all you could always prioritize which teeth most need replacing and have that work done.

The technical feasibility

In some areas it is simply not possible to have implants. This is because implants are attached to your bone in the same way that the root of a normal tooth is. That’s how they end up feeling so similar to your usual teeth, but if you don’t actually have enough bone remaining within the area that you want the implant there will be no way of attaching the titanium base to it.

Obviously you won’t be aware of this yourself, unless you keep an x-ray machine in the basement of course! Your dentist will be able to inform you as to whether or not this is a problem in you specific situation and advise you as to the best course of action if it is.

Time to consider

Don’t rush into making a decision when it comes to dental implants. Make sure you schedule an appointment with your dentist where you can ask all of the questions that you need to. Once you have all of the information you will be in a better place to choose your route forward. Dental implants have helped to change the life of many people that have suffered with missing teeth, but if this is not a viable option for you your dentist will be well placed to offer many different suggestions for you.

A Smile a Day Keeps the Blues Away

“A smile costs nothing, but gives much.

It enriches those who receive, without making poorer those who give.

It takes but a moment, but the memory f it sometimes lasts forever.”

Dr. Genny Anderson

We have all been guilty of taking our smiles for granted, I know I have! Sometimes it can be hard to turn up the corner of our lips when we’re having really bad days, those days when everything seems to be going wrong. But a smile is more than just a way to express your happiness; many of its benefits are actually directly linked to your health! In fact some studies have shown that a combination of smiling and laughter can literally add years to your life!

Are the benefits of smiling purely psychological? By no means! When we smile an assortment of chemicals is released in our brains such as endorphins and serotonin. You might have heard of endorphin before, it’s the same drug that’s released when we eat chocolate and exercise. Essentially these are feel good drugs that the body produces and that your smile releases.

Smiling has even been known to reduce blood pressure! Many tests undertaken showed a slight reduction in blood pressure when the reading was taken after smiling solidly for one minute. Just think of the difference that could make if you smiled all the time if you do suffer from high blood pressure.

Along with these obvious health benefits there are many other advantages to keeping that grin on your face:

  • Smiling can make you appear younger than you are. Start to get rid of those deep-set wrinkles caused by frowning; laughter lines are far more attractive.
  • You may find yourself appearing more attractive to other people with a beaming smile on your face; humans are naturally attracted to smiles and repelled by frowns.
  • Spread the joy with your smile. This is one that you can test at home, try smiling for a day and see how many people smile back at you in reaction – it really is contagious. I challenge you to bring smiles to the faces of as many people that you come into contact with as you can!
  • You can actually instantly improve your mood with a smile. Give it a try, start by smiling and then think of something sad – can you keep up the smile? A smile is associated with positive and happy thoughts, keeping it up will keep your brain happy.
  • Struggling with stress? Would you believe that a smile can counter its effects? Next time everything is feeling too much find a quiet corner to sit down in and let a smile light up your face. You may just find yourself feeling better.

Letting your smile out more often could dramatically change your life so why not give it a go? It’s one of the most positive attributes that we as humans have and yet one of the most under-appreciated. Let’s change that trend today!
